Pond Activity Report for
- St. Clair, Lake

Date: Monday, July 16, 2007

Purpose: Take Adopt-A-Pond Program information to neighbors

Group: Lake St Clair

Number of Volunteers: 3

Total Hours Worked: 10

Report:

Our Lake Committee is going door to door to lake front property owners to receive permission to have lake maintenance preformed. This includes spraying of cattails and certain other aggressive vegitation. After spraying and clean up, the community will be planting "beneficial" plants. What are "beneficial plants"? Beneficial plants keep our waters clean by filtering and help hold the banks in place. These plants are planted along the banks, some flower thru-out the year, while others provide nests and homes to our wildlife such as birds, fish, snails, frogs, etc.. Included in this report is a lake in Brandon who is doing a wonderful job of filtering and maintaining their body of water with beneficial plants, the results are beautiful! Hopefully, our will look like this soon, this lake has been planted  2 years ago.
